One LED Matrix Hexpansion segment (v2), fully assembled including the base and 156 warm-white LEDs.
Requires a Tildagon or Spaceagon badge, not included. Images show one, two, or six segments for illustration purposes. Future versions of this hexpansion will be made on a combined PCB not using the prototyping base and may not tile perfectly with this one.
These LEDs are a single-colour and work best in dim lighting or at night. For comparison, the badge pattern brightness in the photos is set to 10%.
The CH32V006 microcontroller is programmed with firmware to emulate a read-only EEPROM with a hexpansion header for identification, and runs a starfield pattern or scrolling text. It can be controlled from the "Matrix Hexpansion" Badge App Store app. It also has a bootloader mode so the badge app can flash new firmware with no additional hardware required, for example when more patterns are developed.
